Youth Ministry Assessment Report Summary

Keller United Methodist Church has many dynamic assets. It is a growing church whose average worship attendance has doubled in the past seven years. KUMC youth are stupendous, smart, fun, engaging, ready for relational ministry, represent a variety of interest and more. It's obvious there is a high level of commitment to creating a thriving youth ministry at KUMC. There is a strong churchwide sense of acceptance of responsibility for the youth ministry. Time and talents are devoted by a collaborative staff and generous members. While there are many assets there are some challenges. Better attendance tracking, updated database, 18 month calendaring and major event notebooks are missing from the current ministry system. It is clear that Keller UMC is not in a state of “ panic" in its youth ministry. To the contrary, there is a steady voice amongst all those who gave input for taking the time and giving the attention necessary to move this ministry to the next level is what will be best for the students, families and the church.

Listening group participants were asked who the next person needs to be and some of the responses include: dynamic, excited, enjoys being with students, they have to be relevant, able to give parents what they need to know, creative, they should get to know us personally and someone who talks with us not just to us.

A search committee has been formed and will continue to work with Ministry Architects as they conduct a nationwide search for a new youth director. We will continue to provide updates as they become available. If you have further questions, contact Pastor Page Hines.
