Participation in this study will provide basic biological and developmental information, build self-esteem in the students, strengthen communication skills among older elementary girls and boys and between them and their parents, and introduce participants to the fact that their sexuality is an integral part of being human. Students will learn and practice using proper terminology. 8th and 9th Grades
As students move into their time in high school, we will explore the sacredness of relationship and how God calls us to handle these relationships with the utmost care and respect. We hope to redefine what a healthy romantic relationship looks like as we examine the sacredness of sex. Along the way, we will have frank conversations about sex, dating, body image, social media issues, pornography, bullying, STDs, teen pregnancy, masturbation and contraception.
11th and 12th Grades
As students prepare for life past high school, we will explore the sacredness of spirit and our own sexual identities—who are we called to be as sexual beings that follow Christ? We will re-examine how we look at ourselves and others as sexual beings and the ways God calls us to be gracious to others and to ourselves. Along the way, we will explore relevant issues of sex, dating, marriage, body image, STDs, sexual decision-making, gender roles, defining intimacy, healthy vs. unhealthy relationships and date rape.
